Sitting next to the skin, the liner rubs against the hiking sock which in turn rubs against the boot, this dual layer helps reduce friction between your skin and the boot and spread out the wear on your foot, preventing hotspots and blisters from developing. Using a liner also means you can pack fewer hiking socks and wear them longer between washes on longer trips. They're also great on their own as ultra lightweight socks for everyday use in the height of summer. Coolmax engineered polyester fibres move moisture away from your skin quickly while an increased polyamide content at the toe, heel and across the sole adds durability extending the lifespan of your socks for 100's of miles. 2% elastane helps keep your socks firmly in place without feeling compressive and a seamless construction further reduces the risk of blisters and hotspots on longer hikes.
Avoid snagging, vigorous machine washing, putting your finger through the fabric, and hungry moths. Those darn moths. When your socks do start to whiff, hand wash them in lukewarm water or stick them on a delicates cycle at 30°C. Use a gentle soap instead of detergents if you can, and do not use conditioners or fabric softeners.
