Adjusting Your Ratchet Belt You'll need: scissors or a sharp craft knife, a ruler/tape, and a pen/pencil: 1. Release the buckle Flip open the small latch on the underside of the buckle and slide the leather strap out. 2. Measure & mark Work from the buckle end only (the end without the ratchet track). Put the belt on to guage your fit, then mark the amount to remove. Start conservatively (e.g., 1-2 cm at a time). 3. Cut the strap Cut straight across your mark at the buckle end. 4. Reattach Insert the freshly cut end back into the buckle until fully seated, then close the latch so the teeth grip and secure the leather. 5. Test & fine-tine Try the belt on and adjust to your preferred notch-free fit. If it's still a touch long, repeat steps 2-4, trimming a little more.
